We are looking for a brilliant Mechanical Design Engineer to join our technical team, using first principles of engineering and advanced software tools to design complete battery packs for prototyping and on-site production , achieving client’s requirements and carrying on the development of our core technology as part of on-going R&D programs.
As a member of the R&D team you will be required to support and eventually coach less experienced Engineers, develop processes / procedures across the R&D team, and provide support internally and to suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:
To assess project scope and specification from senior managers and client's requirements and provide technical input to agree design requirements and planning with senior managers.
To design complete battery packs, their components and subsystems, using various design tools to meet the client's requirements and specification, as well as manufacturing standards.
To understand and use the first principles of engineering to validate design solutions.
To create models (3D) and drawings (2D) that can be used to manufacture and build components/systems, according to major technical standards.
To perform mechanical simulations, and to analyze and interpret simulation results to validate and optimize proposed designs.
To write reports and documentation, and to present data and achievements at all levels across the organization.
To create DFMEA documents - holding reviews and implementing necessary mitigating actions. Assist in checking drawings to include approval of designs for release for manufacture.
To assist in developing design procedures in accordance with the functional requirements.
To support the development of quality and validation processes.
To liaise with other departments to support the assembly or testing of prototypes and products.
To investigate mechanical failures or unexpected problems and provide potential solutions.
To interface directly with clients and suppliers when required.
Required Education and Industry Experience:
Engineering degree in automotive / mechanical / aerospace or other Engineering discipline.
Experience in the industrial or automotive field is a plus.
Required Technical Skills and attributes:
Good knowledge of product, system, and component design for the delivery of projects.
Mechanical and structural design experience.
Design capability via a 3D parametric system.
Knowledge of drawing standards and best practice.
FEA knowledge - creating models and interpreting results.
Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, their properties and their use in engineering design and analysis.
Basic knowledge of design for manufacture and design for testing.
English speaking and writing proficiency.
Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
Thermal design experience is a plus.
Battery, Electric motor, Inverter design experience is a plus.
Proven track record of successfully delivering projects to fixed deadlines is a plus.
Italian speaking and writing proficiency are a plus
